Review: The Unexpected Wedding Guest – Aimee Carson

“‘Surprised to see me?’Getting caught in her wedding dress by her drop-dead-gorgeous ex-husband is Reese Michael’s worst nightmare. Especially when her perfect-on-paper fiancé then cancels their wedding!Reese has spent years trying to forget how her marriage to Mason Hicks crashed and burned – yes, their chemistry was incredible, but a girl can’t live on lust alone! And what’s a jilted bride supposed to do when the one man she could never forget is back in her life, as irresistible as ever? Mason might be her own personal brand of Kryptonite, but surely life is meant to be lived a little dangerously…? (taken from the back cover)

This book is from Mills & Boon’s new series Modern Tempted. The publishers say that this series is fun, flirty and sexy with a contemporary edge and I absolutely agree! I read this book in one go (once started there was just no way, I could put it down). I loved the changing points of view. This way, the reader gets “so close” to both Reese and Mason.

The storyline is fast-paced, easy to follow and extremely addictive! The chemistry and attraction between Reese and Mason is wonderfully described and both characters are extremely likeable.

First of all I thought that these books might be a bit too “cheesy” but I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, there was a bit of predictability but that didn’t take anything away from this fantastic read! This is definitely not the last book I will read from this series.

The Unexpected Wedding Guest is a quick, romantic and passionate read which lets you escape into a different world for a few hours.

My rating: 5 out of 5

I would like to thank the publisher for sending me this book in exchange for my honest review.

Modern Tempted will officially launch on 1st September, although the books will be available exclusively from the Mills & Boon website ( from 1st August. There will be four sizzling books a month from authors such as Kelly Hunter, Mira Lyn Kelly, Heidi Rice, Natalie Anderson and Liz Fielding.
